Want to know how to find Freelance Gold?!
If you're here, you know that hiring freelancers can help your business. Whether you're reducing your workload or finding talents/skills without hiring a full-time employee, working with freelancers allows you to find high-quality services for much less time, money, and management. But that's just the beginning. Some businesses—the ones who find gold--have discovered there are even better ways to use freelancers. Here's two BIG ways to find gold for your business! Freelance Gold Tip #1- When you find a good freelancer, hire them on a regular basis. While hiring random freelancers for one-off tasks and projects alleviates an immediate burden, regularly working with the same freelancer with a wider range of skills optimizes your management of them and your projects. Think about it. If the freelancer already knows you, your business, your style, and other work (because they've done it), you have less to do for onboarding. You don't have to search for the most qualified, review their portfolio and services, reach out to set up an interview, interview, share/receive/review/sign contracts, share all your assets/passwords, set up ways of working, give access to systems... that's a lot of work over and over and over. Working with the same freelancer also ensures the work you get is consistent and higher quality. High quality always includes consistency anyway, but when a freelancer is more familiar with your business, etc., you empower them to ensure their work is consistent with your goals. Even the best will be better if they're working with you consistently. And take note, you may need to pay more to hire one freelancer with a wider range of specialties, but the value of convenience and quality are worth it. Freelance Gold Tip #2- Delegate the management of projects and freelancers to a freelancer. Maybe you're thinking, "but that's my job." First, so what? You are responsible for making sure your job is getting done, right? How you do it is up to you. But second, is it really your job? Really think about what it is you are responsible for and compare it to all the little things you've taken on extraneously. Too often, we take on more than we should, either to impress our boss, out of some weird guilt/perfectionism component, or because it's been heaped on us. But if it's not actually your job, don't hesitate to find someone else to do it. Also consider that by nature, (expert) freelancers will by necessity have project management (organization, communication, delegation) skills and a network of other freelancers. Why not hire someone who already has the ability to manage projects and an established network of trusted freelancers? I admit it. If you were to hire me consistently, it would benefit me, as well. But probably not for the reasons you think. You see, I value quality and consistency. And I value my clients. I want to serve them well, and I certainly DO NOT want to see someone else messing up my work. And I am a team player. I love providing resources and support so people succeed in their specific roles and in their indivdual professional and personal lives. So on a very personal level, I prefer a long term, consistent relationship with my client. Even when it would be easier and more profitable to work one-off with multiple clients.
